Nissan Navara Review

What you need to know about the Nissan Navara

We may not be blessed with the biggest selection of pick-up trucks here in the UK, but when it comes to taking your pick of those that are available, you can’t go wrong with the well-equipped and stylish Nissan Navara. Designed with the hardworking tradesman in mind, the Navara provides a capability that is truly exceptional but does so with style and comfort that ensures each and every journey is as relaxed and enjoyable as can be.

Here at Vanwise Group, we’re big fans of the Nissan Navara, both because of its commercial performance and its car-like qualities. Take a look at our full review below to learn more about this stylish and versatile pick-up truck.

Appearance

Where better to start than with the exterior delights of the new Nissan Navara. Featuring tough SUV styling, the model comes available in Navara Double Cab and King Cab options, both of which retain the smart and contemporary look that is synonymous with the new Nissan design. Sleek aerodynamic lines, distinctive LED lighting, and a muscular stance, the Navara takes command out on the road. The alloy wheels and rugged front end, meanwhile, ensure that no matter what life throws at it, the Nissan Navara has more than enough to cope.

Of course, you can’t neglect the storage area at the rear of the vehicle. With the new Navara, there is intelligence to support the strength and capability of this space. An optional hardtop for the pick-up bed provides added security, but also looks great in the context of the vehicle’s aesthetic. With roof rails further adding to the sense of practical versatility, and sidesteps making access to the cabin simple, the Navara features a number of subtle design touches that make all the difference.

Cabin comfort

As mentioned above, the Nissan Navara comes in both Double and King Cab options. In the former, you can enjoy access via four doors and the use of a full-sized rear seat, whereas the King Cab features smaller back-hinged doors with fold down rear seats. Regardless of the model you choose, both pride themselves on offering an exceptional level of interior comfort. Plus, with five trim levels available - beginning with the well-equipped Visia all the way up to the top-of-the-range Tekna edition - you can be assured that the Navara has all your driving and passenger comfort needs to be covered.

Interior space is ample - particularly in Double Cab versions - with head and legroom making for a comfortable journey, while rear air conditioning and dual-zone climate control work to tailor the environment according to personal preference. In terms of dashboard arrangement, the Navara adopts a design of simplicity with everything carefully positioned for ease of use. The five-inch HD colour TFT screen displaying key driving information, for example, offers easy access to the information you require without having to lose concentration on the road ahead.

For those busy working days, a selection of practical measures also come included. From convenient storage areas to three 12-volt power sockets, foldable seating to cupholders, there are plenty of simple additions to the vehicle that make it such a practical choice.

Loadspace

Regardless of the car-like comfort provided by the Navara, it shouldn’t be forgotten that this is, above all else, a rugged and practical pick-up truck. As such, it needs to perform in a manner that meets and exceeds expectations, not least with respect to load space and payload capacity.

For the largest pick-up bed possible, a King Cab edition of the Nissan Navara is the ideal choice, with a length of 1,750mm compared to the 1,537mm in the Double Cab. Of course, this additional space derives from the loss of the rear doors and larger rear passenger seats, so weighing up the advantages of comfort overload requirements should be essential to your decision-making.

When it comes to payload, both editions have the ability to impress, with the Double Cab providing up to 1,059kg and the King Cab 1,074kg. With C-Channel load securing included on higher specification models, and the addition of an optional storage cover for added protection, the hardworking nature of the Navara is certain to impress.

Engine performance

Capable of towing up to 3,500kg, you can be confident that the engine options for the Nissan Navara are more than up to the challenge. The selection of diesel engines generates more power and better fuel economy than ever before, with a 2.3-litre 190PS twin-turbo engine able to provide up to 450Nm of torque.

Of course, fuel economy is essential - as too are low emissions - so choosing the 2.3-litre 160PS edition will more than appeal; with combined fuel consumption of up to 46.3mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 159g/km, you can still experience great power but now with a little responsibility too. Plus, with a selection of six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmissions available, you’ll find yourself with all the gears you need for smooth, controlled driving, regardless of the terrain.
