Euro6 - the latest emissions standards - are causing London van drivers some discomfort. Mostly in their wallets as, from 8 April 2019, non-compliant vans are now being hit with fees of £12.50 per day when they enter London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ). In addition to the existing congestion charges, that means that van drivers are taking quite a financial hit, potentially racking up thousands of pounds in fees across a year.
The Euro 6 legislation is aimed at reducing harmful pollutants and improving London’s dire air quality. Since September 2016, all newly manufactured vehicles must achieve the Euro6 emissions standards, but used van drivers in and around London are being heavily affected.
